Ashanti Shequoiya, also popularly known as Ashanti is an extremely famous American singer and actress. She is a songwriter, singer and actress who hails from her native United States. Her talent was first noticed as a teen. She signed with Murder Inc. Records, in 2002. That same year she appeared as a guest on the Fat Joe's What's Luv? song and Ja Rule's Always on Time track. Both of them turned into huge smashes. With Foolish and What's Luv at Number One She became the first woman to record two songs that were in the Billboard Hot 100 chart top ten from the United States. Ken-Kaide Douglas is her father. She is Kenashia's youngest brother. Douglas was named Ashanti Shia Douglas after her mother, who was from the Ashanti Empire in Ghana where women were powerful and influential. Douglas wanted Ashantis to adopt this model.
